I was given two thank you gifts following my speech. One was a book, more on which later, the other was a 1kg brick of brown cheese.
Brown cheese, also known as brunost or gjetost is a Norwegian whey cheese. It is, unsurprisingly, brown in colour and you need to use one of those metal cheese slicers to shave thin bits off.
It tastes wonderful. It has a strong caramel flavour and the best I can do to describe it is as a caramel cheese. This may sound horrible to some but don't knock it till you try it. I have been having slices of it with apple as a snack or on warm crusty bread.
Ethan loves it as well, he is having ham and brown cheese sandwiches for lunch today.
I am rather hooked. Mari has promised to keep me supplied, although I hear a rumour that Waitrose might stock it.
I'm off to eat some right now.
I love that cheese too - but too much of it can have quite troublesome gastric consequences!
