What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day (four days late) than by coming along with the one you love to the Firestation Book Swap?
Especially as one of the guest authors will be Josa Young, the writer of romantic comedy One Apple Tasted. This debut novel has been acclaimed by Amanda Craig as 'by far the best I have read this year'.
And if that strikes you as, well, a little bit too girly the evening will be balanced out nicely by Patrick Woodrow who writes the sort of thrillers that airport bookshops were made for. Spy novelist Charles Cumming called First Contact 'an authentic, original and hugely entertaining read'.
Patrick has also been leaving some wonderful music recommendations on my blog so I might have to pick his brains for some more on the night.
And Josa came along to the very first Book Swap where she sat in the audience. She enjoyed it so much she wanted to come back and be on stage.
Isn't that nice?
Marie Phillips will be returning to co-host after her month off and we are hoping that are growing cast of regulars will be in the audience. Along with quite a lot of cake. And perhaps some first-timers as well.
If you have been meaning to check out the Book Swap but haven't got round to it yet then delay no more. You will have a whale of a time.
Tickets are £5 and available here or on the door. Anyone who bakes a cake is allowed in for free.
Doors open at 7.45pm on Thursday 18th February at the Firestation Arts Centre in Windsor.
Sounds splendid. I'll be there.

This sounds fun, I would be there in a jiffy if I wasn't half a globe away. But I resent the oblique Valentine's Day reference (it's not Valentine's Week!) Single people have more time for books anyway...

I am only joshing in the Valentine's front Elena, desperate as I was for a link between the books and the date!

Yup, it was nice. Slipping away down the M4 as the sun goes down is my idea of heaven. And I will be bringing Hummingbird style cupcakes with vanilla butter icing and sprinkles just in case you need more incentive. www.oneappletasted.co.uk

Sadly I'm unable to make this one as I'll be away....
I hope this doesn't adversely effect recruitment Scott.

I figured as much anyway :P I think I was just bitter about the fact that I live so far away from such bookish adventures

I'll be along to this one, and will be addressing Josa as 'Maud's mum' all night.

I was always known as Om Maud by some Arab relations of a small friend of hers long ago. So no problem with that, Stu? Where do you spring from.
