So here it is, the latest podcast from the Firestation Book Swap.
Marie Phillips was back in the seat next to mine and we were joined by Patrick Woodrow and Josa Young.
Highlights include post-op transexuals, my Lady Gaga outfit and some revelations about authors we hate.
Thanks to Michael from the Firestation for editing these and pulling them together. Now I just need to work out how to get them on to iTunes. Not my strong point.
The next Book Swap is on Thursday 18th March and we will be joined by two local Windsor authors.
Mark Keating is the author of The Pirate Devlin
which is published by Hodder. I have yet to read this swashbuckling adventure so I don't actually know how many swashes get buckled but I will be dipping in next week in preparation for chatting to the man himself on the dodgy Firestation sofa. The online reviews have been excellent, suggesting a cross between Master & Commander and Sharpe, so I am bracing myself for a ripping yarn.
Warwick Cairns could probably spit on the Firestation from his front doorstep. Not that he would do that sort of thing, he is far too nice for that. Warwick has had two books published by Macmillan. About The Size Of It
is the most amusing, and informative, book about weights and measures you will ever read. It really is a revelation. And How to Live Dangerously
is a brilliant attack on our modern safetly culure full of stats that will have you sending your kids off to London unaccompanied and throwing their bike helmets in the bin. His next book is an incredible account of his friendship with Wilfred Thesiger and how he retraced his footsteps in Africa. You can read a tiny extract from it in this recent interview.
It is going to be another great night. We'd love to see you. Tickets are available here or from the venue on the night. They cost a mere fiver.
Thanks for the podcast link, I'll listen to it later. Have you made any more plans about the book swap going on tour yet?

I really enjoyed the podcast. Thank you. As I was listening, I was wondering whether I could get to Windsor for the next swap and thinking idly about which of my books I might swap. I had just decided on A S Byatt's 'Possession', on the grounds that it is a good book that I will never read again because I was so intimidated by its erudition. With almost comic timing, the discussion at the Firestation moved on to what seemed a unanimous dislike of A S Byatt's pretentiousness. Right, not a good idea for a swap, then.
