A tale of a trainee psychic in the weird and wonderful land of Brugel. Oh, and her pet ferret who may or may not be a handsome young man under a witch's spell - although my money is on may.
I thought this was original and quirky - wonderful use of witty footnotes throughout - and despite the girly cover (and terribly vague blurb) I am going to pass this one to Ethan as I think he might like it.
Will I read on? Depends on what Ethan thinks.
As an aside, I have come across Ebony McKenna before. As a young woman she struck up a friendship with Frank Muir - somewhat of a hero of mine - and I remember enjoying her account of their correspondence on a website she set up shortly after his death. I am sure he would have been delighted with this début novel from his protegee.
Ondine: The Summer of Shambles
(not to be confused with the recent film of the same name) by Ebony McKenna is published by Egmont.
