Today I welcome the very lovely Sarah Salway who is here to read a poem from her debut collection, You Do Not Need Another Self-Help Book. Without further ado, over to Sarah.
Regular readers will know that I love this book of poetry. I raved about it last year when I was lucky enough to read the manuscript and I have re-read it several times since. There are poems within its pages that make me beam with joy and others that make me cry like a baby.
I am particularly chuffed to be hosting this poem as it was inspired, in part, by the title of my own book.
You Do Not Need Another Self-Help Book is finally available to buy and you can do this direct from the publisher's website. It costs £8.99 plus £1 P&P and it is worth every penny. Or you can get it from all good bookshops, as they say.
Sarah is out and about reading her work on a number of blogs at the moment. You can check out the full itinerary here.
I hope you enjoy the poems of this wonderful author as much as I do.
How splendid an entry.
bravo!

Lovely stuff; not sure that I get the Carver connection though...

Thank you so much.
And Trev, the Carver connection is not in the content, but the fact that his comment that he wrote poems for readers not critics gave me the permission I needed to carry on writing poems about what I wanted to read and talk about, rather than feeling every poem needed to be 'Important'. For me, the importance is in the details. Hope that makes sense.
